Shipman, has been a member of the High Point Historical Commission and a long-time High Point resident.

High Point, North Carolina, is the home of Cat's Cradle Books. As online booksellers, we think we have chosen well. High Point is located in the geographic center of the state. The community has been a crossroads of transportation (legend says we were on the "high point" of the North Carolina railroad route that came through this part of the state in the 1850s).

North Carolina itself is a state rich in history and diverse in cultures, geographies, and recreational opportunities.  From the Outer Banks to Mount Mitchell, there's a lot to enjoy and explore.

We are also delighted to be able to announce the launch of the new website of the North Carolina Association of Historians.  This group has been around for a long time, and it is an excellent organization that welcomes faculty, students, schoolteachers, public historians, independent scholars, and others who are interested in the study of history.  They publish a journal, they hold an annual meeting, and they welcome  new members.
